Milkers

EN CASA – MONTHLY – FRIDAY 10pm

Having always been into predominantly electronic music as an acid house veteran since ’89 where he was a regualar at places like the Hummingbird in Brum, Eclipse in Coventry and Shelley’s in Stoke, Martin a.k.a Milkers’ passion for music was forged at an early age.

Following his family and emigrating to Australia in ’90, where he spent an intial 6 months and later returning for another year, Milkers returned to the UK and started DJ-ing around ’92.

He has played at many of the early clubs in the Birmingham area from Marco Polos’ to Moneypennys and various parties and raves at the time, including his own events on what was known as the ‘Chuff Chuff’ boat on the River Severn in Worcester.

He has also had a few DJ residencies when he returned to Adelaide in 93-94, playing at clubs and bars and rekindling relationships with great friends he’d first met on the very early scene there in ’90.

After a long hiatus from DJ-ing with his career taking over for some years and supporting his family bringing up his children, he has rediscovered his love for DJing, the music having never left him.

These days most of his DJ gigs are parties with mates from Birmingham to London, with some boat parties on the Thames amongst them.

In terms of his musical tastes these days as Gilles Petersen once said, it’s everything from John Coltrane to Kurt Cobain! ~very balearic centric with quality house music and some soul and dub / reggae thrown in for good measure.
